Recording Information Page
If you have never recorded before, the process can seem confusing. At
Audible Images, we can help take the mystery out of the process. You can put our years of
experience to work for you.
The first step is to call Audible Images today and schedule a free studio tour
and consultation to determine your specific needs. We can then help you put
together a plan to make the most of your time and hard earned money. The following is a
brief and simple description of the recording process.
Tracking
Tracking is the process of capturing sound with a microphone or directly from an instrument onto a
track(s) of a recording device (format). Some instruments and vocals require only one track while others, such as drums and keyboards, require more. The number of tracks needed depends on the amount of vocals and/or instruments
for the particular project.
Overdubbing
"Overdubbing" is a unique form of "tracking" that refers to
adding or replacing instruments or vocals on a project. This can help embellish or repair mistakes made
during the initial "tracking" stage.
Mixing
"Mixing" refers to the art of blending all of the individual vocals
and instrument tracks for proper balance, equalization,
and compression. Mixing can also involve editing, and
the addition of effects processing (reverb, delay, etc.) You can mix for stereo CD or even multi-channel surround sound (DVD).
Mastering
"Mastering" is the final stage in preparing your project for
duplication and radio airplay. This process involves leveling, spacing, and
processing your final mix to achieve the perfect combination of warmth, presence, and balance. (click

Duplication
"Duplication" refers to making multiple copies of your project for
public sale.
